Short version: SpellyBee is made for families — children and grown-ups. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. There are no ads, no third‑party trackers, no online play, and no account to create.
SpellyBee has no login and no user accounts. We do not collect names, emails, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics. We do not use third‑party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Your play data — the nickname/avatar you choose, the profile type (child or adult), learning progress, streaks, coins, settings, and word lists — is stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled on the device, this data is synced privately to your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so progress follows you across your devices. This information stays within your Apple account; Barlow Prester has no access to it and never receives it.
Some exercises let you spell words out loud. When you allow it, the microphone audio is converted to text using Apple's Speech Recognition so the app can check the answer. Whenever your device supports it, recognition runs entirely on the device; otherwise Apple may process the audio under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not record, store, or send this audio to our servers. You can choose the language used to recognize letter names in the app's Settings, and you can revoke microphone and speech permission at any time in the device Settings.
The 1 vs 1 Duel and the Teacher Challenge are played by two people on the same device, taking turns. There is no online multiplayer, no network connection, and no matchmaking: nothing about a match leaves the device. The second player's name and the words typed for a Teacher Challenge are used only during that match and are not stored.
SpellyBee offers an optional Premium subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.
SpellyBee is designed for children to use with a parent or guardian, and for adults learning on their own. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no personal data is collected by us and no third parties receive data, there is nothing for us to sell or share.
SpellyBee uses Apple's iCloud/CloudKit (private sync), StoreKit (subscriptions), Speech Recognition, and text-to-speech. These are provided by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy. No other third-party services are used.
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
